Handcuffed Headscissors

Yikes! time flies here so
fast ... this afternoon I need to take a quick look in the calendar can and found with horror that today already the 20th February is ... In recent weeks we have made so much that it is almost right now stressful ...

Let's start at the Carnival week:
☼ Rose Monday here in Iceland Bolludagur , in preparation for the carnival season on this day mainly spherical food are increased. Filled with passion but also meat Brandteigkrapferln Camisole, Camisole vegetables and other spherical foods.

☼ Shrove Tuesday is the Sprengidagur , a delicious holiday before Lent. Occasion for a traditional feast of salted lamb and pea soup.
Shrove Tuesday for us: After a long Uni-tag, we were invited by our dear Finns to a delicious dinner of Finland. There was a tasty casserole and delicious as a dessert Finnish Bollur.

THANKS to Katariina, Laura and Hanna! S was a fantastic evening! Eat as well as society
!

☼ Ash Wednesday , Öskudagur : on that day should be given special care so that you do not get attached a little bag filled with ash. draw also covered on this day the children through the streets and shops, sing and say in Proverbs, to raise money and sweets.

Wednesday for us: In the morning we were in the field and have celebrated Carnival with "our" children. All were made up and then we all met and it was celebrated and danced together. It also gave
in Reykjavik this evening a winter parade, the funny thing in this move was the reverse of the processes occurring with us. If you go with us to move then you stand and watch the parade and attracts a passing. Here it is just the opposite, the "relocation" and the audience is almost through the city from one station to another and watching the "standing move" on.

☼ Thursday was (like every Thursday) a great concert that we were on course to miss any circumstances.

☼ Friday then found that for us from the university organized Þorrablót (the traditional midwinter festival dinner) instead. Where we traditional Icelandic Delights were indulged. Schmanckeln how SVID [boiled sheep's head (with eye)], súrsaðir hrútspungar , hárkarl [Islands [ram's testicles in whey loaded] famous, infamous specialty: Greenland shark, which is so difficult to digest, that he once eingebuddelt doing nothing for six months in the ground must. It is worth mentioning that the taste is much better even than the smell (stink the whole university and the surrounding area smelled of these delicacies, or better) but the sharpest wahrsc heinlich is the aftertaste of the Brennivin but as a powerful antidote swallowing (potato liquor) is served,
... This is just a small part of the realm of Icelandic delicacies are.
brave Austrian ladies are just like us, we had to by each cost, even if it was just a little bit. But I must admit my stomach felt a bit strange to then.

☼ Saturday was then held a candlelight walk. Headlamps equipped me we went up 17 clock (in this already dark night) on the way Eyas (mountain Reykjavik) to climb. In order to look at the illuminated city. The weather gave us a small section of the bill ... → heavy snow and wind, or rather storm! In addition, it had snowed the whole week alternately rained and then frozen and snowed again on it so it was under 20 - 80 cm fresh snow a sheet of ice the steep climb quite difficult. Due to the heavy snowfall we had to do that we lose the person is not before us in the eye and the storm was so strong that we each squalls (and it followed one after the other) unless we were careful half a meter next to the way found us because he really wore them (WITHOUT Schme!)
The whole action was then stopped just before the summit, the weather was too bad and the situation became too dangerous. But it was really a unique and wonderful experience has really paid off yet, or perhaps due to these conditions! And is certainly one of the highlights of our stay here in Iceland.
A little tired but with an adrenaline rush then we went off into the night ;-) Reykjaviksche
